MY16 Connect Clutch.

Postby wheres_the_finesse » Wed Jun 15, 2016 8:16 pm

Hi folks

As you'll see, I'm a new member to forum. Have just purchased my second Connect. My first was a 07 plate. This one is a split new Limited with the ice pack/satnav etc.

Anyway, Its currently sitting in Evans Halshaws workshop about to have gearbox removed. 4000 miles on it and I'm having issues with pulling away in first and reversing. it seems to stutter as clutch pedal is released, then you get the smell filling the cab. It happened a few times over the last week and it went into them on Monday. Initial testing and they say they cant get it to do it. They phoned today to say that they wanted my approval to remove gearbox. They said I may be liable for costs if its found not to be a warranty issue. Ive told them to go ahead, but assured them I wont be paying anything.

I've came across a few mentions of folk having similar problems. Has anyone one here had these issues? If so, could you point me in right direction or let me know how you got on with Ford?

Thanks in advance.

I had the exact same problem... took months for ford to sort out and tbh its still not great.... it was the clutch burning up due to a software issue apparently.... they finally replaced the clutch but not the DMF, then the DMF failed and they replaced that but not the clutch..... Mine went to Evans Halshaw bedford... I've just posted a list of all the issues Ive had with the new connect in the connect section. Hope they sort it.

not impressed with my clutch either at times to be honest... does effect the driving, and cluytch pedal very sm ooth, but even resting the foot on the clutch pedal slightly engages it so its easy to accidently make it slip... with the clutch smell in the cab.. other than that do love the vehicle

Had the bad smell thing since day one...
Salesman took me out in another just to prove all of the vans do it.
Also sometimes unexplained juddering when slowly pulling away in first.

This apart, love the goddamn van....

That has got to be the most ridiculous statement these ppl give :?

Mk7 van hunting and cutting out on roundabouts (prv +scv-) oh they all do it!
Samsung note 7 phones going up in smoke, 1 filled a passenger jumbo jet with smoke recently i heard on the news.

Yeah they all do it
It's just not acceptable, unless they are making the pressure plate to weak to accommodate ppl with weak legs? Well the plate should be stronger than the average foot resting on it.
It's funny tho as the clutch on my custom seems really nice?
