Battery Light - Connect t200 Tdi 04

Hi, I have read soooo many threads regarding this topic but still have not found an answer that fits my problem.
I previously had an alternator which died. Replaced with a second hand alternator which cooked the battery. I purchased a brand new alternator which is sitting at just over 12v with engine off and charging at 14.5. I've read that these are correct. I checked the battery off the van and charge is fine. I've also replaced about a meter and half of the wiring loom.
The battery seems to be charging and not draining but i can't seem to get the light to go out. It comes on after about 30 seconds of firing up. I've also run through diagnostic and cleared codes......please someone help me!
