99%

Is the fuse for the imobiliser in the engine bay fusebox or the one under dash?

Yes correct if I turn the key it does nothing at all no crank. All other systems in van work (AC, Fan, lights etc)

It does seem an issue with imobiliser? Both keys do the same thing

As I said, there is no fault with the immobiliser, or the key, otherwise it would be flashing out a fault code with the LED.

I can't really help you with specific places to look as I don't have a Connect, but I can put this thread in the Connect section where someone who knows may see it better

Yes please :) sorry I posted in wrong bit! It's a 2005 connect with Endura DI engine if that helps :)

TDDi :?:

The immobiliser is built into the fuel pump EDC on these, but the box that reads the key and talks to the immobiliser is under the dash on the passenger side. Maybe another place to have a poke around :?:

Sorry I can't be more help :(

Yes I suppose it's a TDDi?

Thanks I was going to ask where the immobilise box was

I'm wondering also if this could be a bad ground? There is some pretty rusty connections to the body which is a new thing since its been left, I think I will clean them all up and see if that helps?

There's nothing to lose by doing stuff like this 8)

Exactly mate :)

Every little thing has to be checked! I've been caught out by a bad ground before, it does send stuff loopy so its worth a try!

Would changing the ignition switch be worth a try? And is it plug and play?

One question, is it ok to remove the ECU/PCM and open it up and check for damp etc? I assume the PCM is the same as the ECU!? It's the box behind the dash on the right side of the van

Yes, they're not that delicate, just don't start prodding around with a multimeter on the circuit board

Re: Ford transit connect won't crank

PCM is out and nothing visually damp or bad. Ive had literally half an hour free today. I'm off Tuesday so will get to work on the grounds. The 2 by the battery under the air box snorkel are rusty as hell so that's the first stage.

Another idea has occurred to me. I appreciate I have to find the fault. But looking on e bay I can but an "ECU kit" which includes PCM, transponder box , transponder ring, 2 keys and all barrels. I'm thinking this would eliminate not only a PCM fault but also an imobiliser one? If I get much more stuck I'm considering it? Any opinions? And also does the Mk6 require the clocks for communication with the PCM or is that 2006 onwards?

Many thanks

It's an option, but probably a bit drastic.
It also means you'll need to get the pump matched to the new ECU, and you won't have eliminated the actual immobiliser, which is built into the pump EDC :(

Sorry apologies it's a connect I'm confusing myself with the MK6 comment!

Ok so the pump will still need sorting if I drastically change everything. So if I was to get the pump from same vehicle it's possible? I appreciate it will be like Triggers broom by then!
