Charge Voltage 17V plus.

Postby LeeH » Tue Mar 21, 2017 3:58 pm

Hi all,

After been stood for 6 weeks I seem to have a problem.

Battery light is flashing randomly.
Charge voltage peaks at 17V plus from 14V approx.
The clocks randomly stop working and drop to zero.

Voltage regulator maybe?

Thanks.

Lee.

Looks to be a likely culprit 8)

Have you checked the batteries in the multimeter :?:

Meter is new and calibrated

It was the wire in the loom from the alternator, you couldn't see. It just had a very high resistance.

Hi
I have the same issue started yesterday
battery light comes on after running for short while then i loose all the clocks and voltage output from the alternator is random from 13 volts upto 17 volts
were was the cable damaged? as i have already replaced the blue, grey, red loom that plugs in the back of the alternator
thanks
