Cam-belt broke

Postby oldsparky » Wed Mar 22, 2017 3:03 pm

Hi everyone, great forum.

I have a 2010 connect 110 T200 Limited with 115,000 miles on the clock.

The cam-belt broke doing 50 on the motorway yesterday. DOH!!
I was wondering if anyone has had there cam-belt go and what sort of damage can I expect to find. I'm assuming there will be a bent valve or two.

Thanks

Paul

Unless you're very lucky, the valves will be bent and there will also be some damage to the piston crowns where they have collided.

I've also seen broken camshafts when this happens. Whip your rocker cover off and see if the camshaft is in one piece; that will give you a good idea of likely damage.
