Life after a weeks ownership

Postby boltondigger » Mon Jun 19, 2017 6:23 pm

So after the theft of my last Mk7 limited 125   i went out and bought poverty spec Transit connect L2 2016 plate. Its a 1.6 75ps basic van.

So far i am over the moon with it ,my MK7 was a nice drive but the connect blows it out of the water. Unbelievably quiet with little road noise and runs great on the motorway at 65/70 mph.

Super slick gear change makes it a pleasure.

Filled up again today for the second time and did a proper mpg comparison from https://www.torquecars.com/tools/uk-mpg-calculator.php My last tankful achieved 50.54MPG!!!!!! .This bus should save me a fortune over the miles and that is with roof bars on.

Have already added more security and beginning to get it organised in the back ,proper home made shelving ,and new led lighting ordered.Just need some 16 inch Ford trims now (no alloys this time)

I miss the toys from the Limited ,also the high driving position but mainly the grunt of the 125 ps MK7 ,i have to utilise the gearbox more on the connect, poss a remap when out of warranty.

On the whole i would recommend one to anyone.

50mpg is a great result.
Looks like Ford finally got the fuel economy on the Connect engine then.

My 2008 Connect TDCi never achieved more than about 35mpg, which was OK but 50mpg would have been better!
