Programming key fobs in.

Postby stugordon » Tue Jun 20, 2017 2:06 pm

Hi all. I'm new to owning my connect but so far it's a great little van.
I've read that it's possible to program key fob from another vehicle simply by turning the ignition key a certain amount of times in a certain time period.
Can someone confirm how this is done?
Also my van only came with one original key with a blue plug in it. It has another key but this only opens the fuel tank flap. I'm sure I read somewhere that to program a key or key fob that you need two keys to do it.
Is this correct or can I do it with just one key?
My next question is as I don't have a proper key fob for my van I was hoping a fob from another ford will work. I have a mondeo fob that has a button to lock anouther to unlock with a blue button underneath these to unlock the boot. Will this fob work with my connect? It's a 03 plate van.
I've replaced the rear door but didn't get a key with the replacement door so haven't been able to swap locks over. My key will lock the back doors but won't unlock it. The only way I can unlock the rear door is by using the key in the front doors & double turning it to unlock the rear door on the second click.
Also the side door doesn't work doing this & so far the only way I can lock/ unlock the side door is leaning into van & turning the little black button. Should I be able to use the key / fob to operate the side door??
Any ideas or explanation how to program the fob would be great.
Thanks guys Stu.
