Rear suspension Softer ride needed

Hello, I have a 2011 ford transit connect cargo van that is used for bakery and cake deliveries. Needing a softer ride mainly in the rear as have wedding cakes etc and they are very fragile to bumps etc........would chasing rear shocks to a softer version help or has anyone ideas of ways to get a soft ride. I do not tow or carry heavy loads so looking for more soft even when trucks empty. Ideas welcomed & thanks
