Fog light bulb type?

Postby connectboy » Thu Sep 14, 2017 8:41 pm

Evening all, I need a bit of help with my newly fitted fog light front bumper as I can't work out what size bulb I need to fit the connectors on the van.

The manual says h11 , and that's what's in the fog now . But the pins seem to be too big for the van connectors. I've tried some hb3 bulbs and those pins are spaced too wide , could there be another bulb I need to fit or am I missing an adapter or something on the fog?

The plug looks like this

Should add that the van is a 55 plate and then bumper is a MK1 type

Any help is appreciated

Looking at that photo I'd say yes, those pins are much smaller than the ones in the h11 bulbs I've got in the fogs. Are there different connectors on h11s?

Sorry, ignore me, I missed the bit where you said that you had tried an H11  I thought that H11 had been standard in Ford Fogs for years :?

There’s an adaptor between the loom and the bulb.

That would make sense Mike, I've just been under the van with a lamp and the connector in the photo is made by Delphi and has the part number E7.

Is it worth trying to find an adapter or just change the plug for a standard h11 ?

I’d change the plug, it’s one less connector to corrode.

Mystery solved, it just dawned on me that a mate has a 52 plate connect on his drive with fog so I popped round for a look.

Took the bulbs out of his fogs and they fit the connectors on my loom, but don't fit the lamp holders. It's let me prove that the fog wiring is all ok though so it's not been a complete waste of effort . Any idea what type of bulb that is out of interest.

I'll get a pair of h11 connectors and change them over at the weekend.
