ford transit connect

Postby super dave » Fri Sep 15, 2017 2:17 pm

hi all I need a little help
I have a 2011 connect driving the other day and it just cut out with no warning.
I tried to start it again and it was just clicking I tried to jump start but no joy. I had it picked up and taken to a local garage and are telling me the engine has seized,
due to a further inspection they have said the cam shaft has snapped.
what would cause this to happen and can the cam just snap

cheers

Hi
Is the cambelt snapped or jumped ?
I've seen this issue before. Years ago I had a P100 1.8TD, which basicly is the same engine. Without warning it just started knocking very bad, took it apart and the crankshaft had snapped. Went to the local car breaker, he showed me 3 dead engines. 2 with snapped camshafts and 1 with snapped crank. Don't know what causes this

Has the garage checked if the wet belt is broken  There are two belts .
On the sixth day God created a Sprinter on the seventh he gave it away and bought a TRANSIT
