I'm stuck - remote locking 2010 Connect

Postby JumpingJacks » Fri Oct 06, 2017 12:02 pm

Hi all, I've been having a go at this for a number of weeks during my spare time and have searched extensively on here although theres not much info on the 2009-2013 connect remote locking issues. I've made some progress however ild really appreciate if someone can help me get over the final herdal.

My fob stoped working so I tried the programming guide on here by Paul2012 (thanks paul) and although I got the chime from the dash I wasn't getting the chime when I pushed the key fob buttons. From a previous poster on here i knew i needed to check if my remote key was sending aRF signal to the van so I tuned my analogue tv to 433mhz and pushed my remote and nothing happened. I tried a key from my brothers car and when I pushed it I could see on screen his key was sending a signal so I knew my key wasn't sending a signal. I guessed that when changed the key battery last time I must have disturbed the metal prongs around the battery so I gently adjusted them put the key back together, tested on the tv and could now tell my remote is sending a signal. So back in the van I went and started the programming sequence. I got the first chime from dash to indicate its in programming mode and then my face lit up when I heard second chime when I pushed the key fob lock button so I exited programming as per guide but I get no response from the remote locking which is weird as I know the for sending a signal and the van can read it.

Forgot to mention the central locking works fine in drivers door with the key(only keyed lock on van- also its a hykee replock)

Old be very greatfull if there is anything anyone can think of that may help as I'm worried if the drivers lock fails I'll be completely locked out of the van

Many thanks gents

So I've been out to the van today and I've checked all the small fuses both in the passengers fuse box and the engine compartment and there all fine. My heads telling me its an electrical issue but I really am out of my depth with this and don't want to unplug things which may cause any damage.

If any one has ideas on what else I could check
Thanks

Had something similar on a 2009 Focus, and that was fixed by locating the BCM, and unplugging the cables, and then re-plugging them in :?

Costs nothing, may be worth a try

On the Focus, it's in/above the passenger footwell, but it could equally be on the drivers side on a Connect

On 2009-2013 Connect they have a GEM module instead of BCM.

GEM module is located behind fuse panel on N/S (passenger side) behind glove box.

Thanks for chipping in with the info 8)
I've removed the glove box and the fibre panel below to get a look. Am I right in thinking I need to unplug these cables behind the passenger fuse box as you look up behind it. I can see 5 sets of wiring looms going into what I'm assuming is the GEM module. It would appear the colour coordinated, looking at it the colours read from left to right Grey, Green, Blue, Grey then Brown. Should I unplug them all or just a specific loom?

Thanks

Just unplug them all one by one and re-plug one by one. make sure that you know the radio code first

Quick update

I disconnected the battery and unplugged the looms as advised but unfortunately it made no difference. I'm going to get a new remote key as I've noticed that if I push above the left side button it's sending a signal to the tv so I suspect my remote key is buggered. When I get the new one I'll update the topic
