Cannot program key fob and hazzard flash issue

Postby willshill » Thu Oct 19, 2017 6:53 pm

Hi All

I just purchased my first ever van! A T200 Connect TDI and it only came with one basic key. My Dad also has a Connect and he has one of these key fobs....

...So I bought one after seeing that programming them is really simple.

I followed the standard instructions of turning the ignition on and off 8 times within 10 seconds until the doors lock however they have never locked for me. The van isnt entering 'program mode'. The very first time I tried this, the Van beeped on the 4th turn but no locking of doors....and no beep since.

I thought a reset of the ECU may help so I disconnected the battery for a while and reconnected. Since then the hazzards now flash for about 25 seconds every time I turn the ignition on and also the same when turned off. I cannot hear a relay ticking though and I still cannot get the van into 'program' mode.

Any Ideas where I am going wrong?

Many thanks

You may not have remote central locking, only key operated, so it won't go into programming mode. You need two original keys to program the immobiliser chip in a new key, or alternatively, you have to use Ford IDS :)

2008 Mk7 SWB T280 Medium Roof 85PS 2.2 TDCi - Also Vantunered

Thanks Altransit. Thats a shame but I can live without remote central locking.

Regarding the flashing hazards, could this be due to only having started the van with only the 'secondary key' (the key looks like a spare, not a chunky ford key.)

Is it only main dealers who have access to ford IDS and can program me a new key? Also, The stereo now requires a code and I don't have the original manual...I should have just left everything be! :x

Many thanks!

the keys were the thin ones, you can get later keys cut and code to the van, if the head unit has a 'M' code its easy to get code, if its a 'V' code you can put it on here and hope a tech can get it or go to ford or on the internet and pay

Thanks for the response.

So what is the reason for the flashing hazards? Does this sound like a fault or is it due to lack of 2 keys being present? I cant find any other threads with this specific behaviour

Thanks

See here  viewtopic.php?f=54&t=180788&p=1541708&hilit=#p1541707.

If locks do not cycle after switch ignition from position 0 to II 8 times within 10 seconds. The your connect is not equipped with remote central locking.

NOTE :- Not all Connects had remote central locking.
