2011 transit connect starter click but nothing else

Postby howie349 » Wed Nov 29, 2017 6:13 pm

So there yesterday was driving my connect van home it was in limp mode for a short period of time the Powertrain light was also on. Got home turned it off and it wouldn’t start just a click at the solenoid on the starter. Put diagnostic tool on it the light power train light was on because the dpf was blocked. Any ideas on how to get the van started so I can do a regen to unblock the dpf filter. I’ve tested for power at started its getting the same power that’s at the battery but the solenoid just clicks is there anything else it could be.? Or does anyone have any suggestions thanks

I got a new starter this morning and fitted it as I thought maybe also but the brand new one done the exact same thing just clicked but wouldn’t start. I wonder could it be an immobiliser fault that is stopping the starter from cranking.?

Have you checked battery :?: May have enough volts but no amps....

Immobiliser inhibits starter motor. Solenoid on starter motor wouldn't energise if immobiliser was active.

Yea I checked the battery it was putting out over 12volts. I put a socket and bar on the crank pulley. I can not get it to turn over at all and I’m not a small fella an I’ve put all my weight on the bar an it’s still won’t turn over even with the starter out. I reckon it’s either something in the engine or the gearbox has went and it’s jamming or whatever. I can’t honestly think of anything else.

If you can't crank engine over by hand. Appears engine it's seized up....

Check top cambelt, if ok. It's possible bottom belt (belt in oil) has failed...
Gearbox won't prevent engine from cranking over.
