Top speed of an 05 connect tdci?

Postby JayKay3000 » Sun Dec 10, 2017 12:44 am

Hi Guys.

I'm going to Germany next year and if I find some de-restricted autobahn I'll be keen to run the connect to vmax, but I'm keen not to blow this thing up . I can't find any reliable information what the top speed is in MPH for the 1.8tdci or whether there is an rpm limiter fitted and when it kicks in. I'm guessing it's going to be no more than 90 - 100mph from what I have read.

I saw a video, but I think it was for the tddi not common rail injection engine.

(Next post, how I blew my connect up in germany  )

Guess i'll have to boldly go where no one seems to have gone before.

It's the 1.8tdci long wheelbase. My guess is 90 mph is probably an engine safe speed based on its gearing for the de-restricted autobahn sections.

When i get the opportunity to use the motorway's, i can cruise at a good 105 - 110MPH on the flat. With regards to the rev limiter, i push mine up to 4,500 and it does not show any signs of limiting. I dont push it to 5k as there really is no torque left by that point. I do not drive around thrashing the thing to bits, but i do like to stretch its legs when on a good run, and it is always kept serviced with new blood running round it  8)

No fear, your Connect is safe on german Highways. I live in the middle of Germany and drive every day on a unlimited 4 lane Highway. My LWB 90 HP 2008 Connect runs 170 km (105 mph) and if i am in hurry i let him "fligh" and nothing happens.
Have a nice day.

Cheers folks. Higher top speed than I was expecting. I'll be sure not to try and race any 911s then
