Fuel Cap

Postby andyspan » Wed Dec 20, 2017 5:29 pm

Hi,
Should the diesel fuel cap on my late 2009 Connect be vented? The reason I ask is that yesterday the engine management light came on and after much investigation I found that when I took the cap off a lot of vacuum had built up in the tank. Once released the light went out and has been fine since. The tank was virtually empty at this time and discovered the vacuum when I took cap off to re-fill. So just wondering if the cap vent is faulty (if it has one!).

Many thanks

Caps not vented, there's 2 vent valves in the top of the tank

Hi, thanks for that. Is it normal for a fair bit of vacuum to build up in the tank particularly when nearing empty?
