Where did my engine come from (again)

Postby connectboy » Tue Jan 16, 2018 5:59 pm

After a suspected fuel pump failure on my current van I've taken to plunge and bought a 58 plate LWB L110. All looks good but when i got it home and had a proper look at the engine I noticed that it''s had it's engine changed, just like my last van!!!!

The engine number is R3PA 8T33212 , I've tried to guess the full vin number in ETIS but so far I've not managed to crack it. Has anybody got access to a ford system whereby you can look up the enginer number on its own.

Like before all I'm trying to do is find the full vin/reg number of the vehicle so I can pull up the mot history and therefore get a feel for when the engine was change and what mileage was on my an / the donor vehicle.

Cheers.

R3PA - 90PS 1.8 TDCI Euro 4 Connect engine :!:

RWPA is a 110ps 1.8 TDCI Euro 4 Connect engine

Please confirm your R3PA engine number as 8T33212 :?:

Thanks for the reply Paul , I'll check the engine number again tonight when I get home to see if I've mis read it. Maybe that's why I couldn't crack the vin number in EITS?

Im guessing that the original RWPA failed and had its head/block changed to a R3PA. It's still got the original ECU in it so I'm assuming that the turbo and injectors ect were retained so it's still a 110 .

That doesn't sound good, Does this mean I've bought a pile of junk with a mismatched engine that won't work properly?

Didn't manage to get the engine code checked tonight sorry as it's been raining heavily all night.

Got it! The rain eased off enough to have a look under the bonnet. The first digit of the engine number is a B not and 8.

So my engine (well some of it ) is from a 2011 van!

Thanks for the help again Paul, cross referencing the miles on my van and the donor van yields about 105000 on the engine. So it's going to to have a new pair of belts fitted next week. It might turn out that they were done when the engine was changed, but it not worth the risk.

Will the RP3A block and head work ok with the turbo etc from my RWPA? Will it still produce 110 ps?
