Hi, new here.
Got a 2010 LWB Transit Connect and it struggles to start from cold in cold weather. It starts first time if the engine is warm, it also starts fine if the van has been parked in a garage.
Starting outside in the cold frosty weather, it cranks over lots but struggles to eventually start, once its started, its very smokey but then clears.
Its seems to idle no problem and drives fine, no loss of power or hesitation and exhaust is clear.
So far Ive done the following...
Full service, oil and filters (air, oil and fuel)
New battery
New keyfob battery
New Camshaft position sensor on the rocker cover
Two full tanks of fuel with Redex additive run through it
Ive read the ECU with an app and no previous or current MIL/CEL warnings.
This may be a red herring but it 'seems' to start easier with the clutch pressed in, this is not required to start like on the newer models but it may start easier when doing this. Which is strange as the starter motor does not seem to struggling to turn the engine over.
Any idea peeps? What could cause poor starting in the cold?
Cheers!
