wiper motor and washer jet fault

Postby cookermanmike » Mon Mar 05, 2018 9:30 pm

I would like help locating a wiper motor and washer jet fault on my ford transit connect. Reg YC62 SMV. Suddenly during the snow last week I went to turn off the wipers and they kept going? then they turned off, I had tried to use the washers but at -4 degree they wouldn't work duh! I turned the wipers on again and this time they would not turn off again. The problem remains . I removed the wiper relay and this stopped the slow speed so now my wipers only work on full speed. I have checked all the fuses ( 20amp yellow) and they are fine. Three days on and the problems is the same, the washer motor does not go - no buzz and the wipers with the relay in run continually at one speed no matter the setting unless its fast then they are fast! Please help, been a great van for two plaus years now on 72k miles and been service since i have had it on regular intervals. Many thanks Mike

HI
Turns out the wiper motor was at fault, garage took the motor out and found supply from park was continuous and this kept the motor going, they also found that continual attempts to run the wash pump had blown a fuse and this was replaced. Seems ok now, hope this helps

But if the feed is still live in park, and the motor had been removed, how is this the fault of the motor?? Also you said you checked all the fuses. Sounds a very contradictive diagnosis to me. Bet all this wasn't cheap either.
