Transit specialist

Postby bernie66 » Mon Mar 19, 2018 8:48 pm

New to forum so, hello to all.

I'm on my second connect van, 12 plate lwb 80k on the clock. Engine failed last Tue, mechanic has told me the bottom belt/chain (cassette) has broke in turn damaging the engine.

Does anybody know any specialist transit/connect chaps they would recommend? or recommendation for sourcing an engine would help. I'm in Milton Keynes, Buckingham area.

Many thanks
Bernie

Welcome to the Forum. :D

On these Connect engines. lower timing chain was changed to to a belt-in-oil (Ford TDB was issued relating to the change). Unfortunately they are prone to failure.

KKDA engine from a Focus is a direct replacement for you Connect 8)

Just out of interest, what is Fords latest "TDB" with these belts?
Transit Custom Limited H1 L2 DCIV, now converted to van by removing the seats etc so now twin side loading doors, fully kitted out with Sortimo racking, always loaded to capacity & averages 35mpg :D

Oops typoerror. Should be Ford TSB.

8/11/10 Fuel injection pump on 1.8L Duratorq-TDCi (Lynx) Diesel service engines equipped with the crankshaft timing sprocket belt-in-oil system
On vehicles with Lynx diesel series build from 10/2007 onwards the crankshaft timing sprocket which drives the fuel injection pump sprocket by means of a chain drive has been changed to the belt-in-oil system.
1.8L Duratorq-TDCi (Lynx) Diesel service engines with Siemens fuel injection pump will be delivered with the new belt-in-oil system only.
