Side Door Issues.... Need Help Please.

Good evening All. I have an issue with my 2011 Connect side door. So when the van is opened for the first time on the key fob the side door doesn’t unlock, I lean in on the passenger side and unlock the small round handle on the inside of the van and the door opens from the outside. I can open and shut the door as many times as I like, the problem comes back as soon as I lock the door on the key fob, it puts me back to square one again. Can anyone shed any light on the problem.... many thanks...
