Oil Filter removal on Transit Connect 2010 Model

Postby dave750 » Sat Apr 14, 2018 9:32 pm

Hi Guys, thought I would buy some good quality oil and oil filter to give the good old van a bit of TLC. The oil filter is a right bitch to get to. I have removed the drivers wheel and the small plastic pulley cover but it is so tight to get to. Struggling to get the oil filter loose what removal tools do you guys use please. Any advice would be appreciated

Hi dave750
I use a Facom Ratchet oil filter removal tool, it does the job each time. Access is better from below, if you jack up the front of the van.

From underneath as well, either pit or jacked up.It comes out between the engine and [I think] the steering rack
As long as it has not been put on with a tool, I always find a wearing a rubber glove gives plenty of grip to remove the filter.

The new 1.6 is soooo much easier to get at, and I believe that the 1.5 is the same :)
