timing belt / chain ???

I think the bottom timing belt/chain went on my van yesterday , its in the garage getting sorted , is this a big job to fix ??

garage did say it`s a wet belt ......has 167k on the clock , I do about 14k a year ,had it 2 years , hasnt had a belt change since I had it

oops engine needs a rebuild then :(

be cheaper to find another engine for it :?

Lower wet belt

I had the misfortune of having the lower wet belt / timing belt go on me last week , all the teeth on the belt got stripped off ,am hoping that it hasn't done any more damage , garage are putting a chain kit on this Monday and going to see if it starte , theu had the head off , and they say it dont look to bad , fingers crossed

wet belt ? id never heard of one til mine snapped 2 months ago ,,, totally wrecked to cylinder head ... cost me £ 1100 quid to get fixed ,,,, yes another engine might av been cheaper but u gotta know the history of the engine plus if u cant do yaself you gotta pay lqbour ,,, not cheap either way ;-/

i thought the lower belt was for the fuel pump :?

And the cam shaft is driven off the fuel pump pulley

looking like I need another engine , I spent that much money on this piece of crap over the past 2 years , I think its time for a different van altogether

what is the cost of a engine rebuild after a wet belt fail ? I`m sceptical about getting second hand engine
