Running woes

Having problems with the van running. 2012 1.8

Van starts and ticks over no issue, first time starter. Accelerates through the rev range without iss but while revving it if you take foot off the accelerator pedal it either falls back to a really rough idle then corrects itself after a 5-10 seconds with the classic diesel knock or more frequently stalls. It then restarts sometimes with a bit of cranking sometimes straight away.

Have done a leak of test and replaced what looked like a slightly faulty injector but that has made no difference. New filter and clean fue. Also checked and blown down return lines for blockage but again no issue.

Plugged it into forscan and nothing obvious from a code perspective but watched the fuel pressures and they are climbing up to 80k and then falling back down to 30k on start up but it’s a slow decent.

Any suggestions welcome

what's the mileage . tear open old filter to have a look inside of it ..you are looking for sparkly..glittering bits of metal in the old filter. assume because of the year its a TDCI.

if you find them ..then you have a bit of work to do and a lot to spend.

Hi, do you mean oil filter ? Would you mind sharing your thought on what it might be ?

Mileage is less than 55k, I have ordered a new pressure sensor as it’s a possible and a cheap enough part to take out of the possibilities

fuel filter

but it may be at too low mileage for that to happen

Changed fuel filter. No metal in it but it was ready for a change.

OK your next move is to dissemble the EGR ..clean, inspect ..make sure the motors turning , that it isn't stuck open or sticking in operation.
