Getting some where with this fault ( no go ) turbo all looks to be good, got uneven running at about 1700 & 2400 rpm, boost at 3000rpm is only 0.2 bar but manual says it should be 0.5 bar. On old style systems this could be lack of fuel pressure but not sure with this system, manual also says if boost is low replace turbo, but when you look up the same fault for a focus tddi it says check fuel supply. any ideas ? :?:

How many miles is on it?

Looking back through your other posts, if your injectors are stuck and not fluctuating, its possible you have a pump problem (same bosch vp30 pump as the troublesome transit pump), have you checked for any swarf in the fuel return or fuel filter?
I miss my 'courtesy van'............140 Glx..now a Jumbo :(

Have booked it in to auto marine diesel,I know that they are very good,dreading the thought of a pump, i do get a lot of noise from that end of engine but only when driveing ( sounds almost like an air leak, but not),have heard what air leaks sound like. It has just done 54000 miles, it had 36000 on it when I bought it and has had 3 oil changes since, have owned it for 3 years now, will have to see what auto marine have to say. Regards Tim :D :P

Turbocharger

PINPOINT TEST C: POOR ENGINE PERFORMANCE - VEHICLES WITH 75 PS OR 90 PS DIESEL ENGINE

C1 CHECK THE WASTEGATE ACTUATOR CONTROL PIPE FOR BLOCKAGE

1 Remove the wastegate actuator control pipe.

2 Using a hand vacuum/pressure pump connect one end to the wastegate actuator control pipe, operate the hand vacuum/pressure pump and observe the reading.

Is a reading present?

Yes

INSTALL a new wastegate actuator control pipe. TEST the system for normal operation.

No

Go to «C2»..


C2 CHECK THE WASTEGATE ACTUATOR DIAPHRAGM FOR LEAKS


1 Connect one end of the wastegate actuator control pipe to the wastegate actuator.

2 Connect the other end of the wastegate control actuator pipe to a hand vacuum/pressure pump.

3 Operate the hand vacuum/pressure pump and observe the reading.

l Does the pump hold a vacuum?

Yes

Go to «C3»..

No

INSTALL a new turbocharger.For additional information, refer to Turbocharger - Vehicles with 75 PS or 90 PS Diesel Engine in this Section. TEST the system for normal operation.

CHECK THE BOOST PRESSURE


Note:
The boost pressure is factory set and must not be adjusted.

1 Using a boost pressure gauge and a T connector, connect the gauge between the wastegate control actuator and the turbocharger.

2 Start and run the engine until normal operating temperature is achieved.

3 Raise the engine speed to 3000 rpm and observe the reading.

l Is the boost pressure less than 0.5 bar?

Yes

TEST the fuel system.For additional information, refer to «Section 303-04A». For additional information, refer to «Section 303-04B». For additional information, refer to «Section 303-04C». For additional information, refer to «Section 303-04D». For additional information, refer to «Section 303-04E». For additional information, refer to «Section 303-04F». For additional information, refer to «Section 303-04G». For additional information, refer to «Section 303-04H».

No

INSTALL a new turbocharger.For additional information, refer to Turbocharger - Vehicles with 75 PS or 90 PS Diesel Engine in this Section. TEST the system for normal operation.

Fuel system TEST

Engine lacks power

Possible Source(s):
Brakes binding.

Action(s) to take:
CHECK the braking system. For additional information, refer to «Section 206-00».

Possible Source(s):
Vehicle overloaded, or excessive wind resistance (roof racks, towing etc).

Action(s) to take:
ADVISE the customer about the effects of overloading the vehicle and wind resistance on the fuel consumption.

Possible Source(s):
Air cleaner element blocked.

Action(s) to take:
CHECK the air cleaner element for blockage or contamination. REMOVE and visually INSPECT the air cleaner element for blockage. INSTALL a new air cleaner element as necessary. For additional information, refer to «Section 303-12».

Possible Source(s):
Charge air cooler blocked or cracked (if equipped).
Charge air cooler pipes split or cracked (if equipped).
Charge air cooler retaining clips missing or loose (if equipped).

Action(s) to take:
INSPECT for visible signs of damage or blockage. CLEAN, REPAIR or INSTALL new parts as necessary.

Possible Source(s):
Fuel filter blocked.

Action(s) to take:
§ INSTALL a new fuel filter..

Possible Source(s):
APP sensor.

Action(s) to take:
REFER to WDS.

Thanks for that, installed a boost gauge, under loaded giveing plenty of boost at right times, still gutless,was in scappy the other day and found a focus in pieces,got all the sensors of it,and tried one by one on the van, IAT at fault goes well again,doesn't use so much fuel & not having to change gear all the time, still got a bit of pump noise though, shame diagnostic's couldn't find it, Regards Tim 8)

Which sensors did you replace Tim?

Tim, that ambient air sensor isn't used for the fueling calculation, the other air temp sensor on the drivers side of the engine bay does that.

The one at the air filter is used for the smart charge as the generator will supply voltage / current in different proportions in relation to battery condition and electrolyte temp.

Hi, it actually fit in the air intake just after the air box, acts like a air flow, intake air drawn over it. Regards Tim

I have just done a check on my boost pressure it running about 17psi on hard acceleration 5th gear about 80mph, measuring this at the elbow of the the inlet manifold but should still read about right.

It been like this since I have had the van. Bet thats not good for it!!!
