Side loading door Central Locking not working correctly!

Postby daycm1 » Tue Mar 11, 2008 4:21 pm

Hi,

Another Connect 03 lx tdci issue!

This afternoon I have just got in my van to use and load something into the side loading door but I found that it wasn't open!
It is all central locking and the 2 front doors and rear door open without fail.

I got in the back and tried to lock and unlock the doors with the key fob and all doors lock/unlock apart from this side loading door. (This has just started happening today!!) The funny thing is, is it looks like it's trying to open the lock because you can see it struggling to turn it but then just gives up!

Has anyone ever come across this problem before with any of their doors or is this a common fault with the side loaders?

Thanks,
Day

Providing the door contact pins are ok (which sounds like they are cus its trying to work) then I would guess at the latch sticking.

Its common on the transits, but I have seen it on the earlier connects
I miss my 'courtesy van'............140 Glx..now a Jumbo :(

i'd have a good look at door adjustment first, if the pins don't make a really good contact the latch can't get enough current to power the latch correctly.

Latches do fail though, but they aren't cheap, so check it out properly

Hmmm.....very strange the side door central locking just mysteriously started working again today for no apparent reason so I'm guessing the latch it sticking like you mentioned but I will still take a look anyhow and make sure all the parts are ok.

I'll let you know how I get on.

Well finally looked at the door and thanks chaps it was the latch sticking!
It seems to be ok now I've WD40'd it!

I'll just see how it goes on now.
Thankfully nothing major.

Thanks a lot once again,

Ok, I might get Ford to check it over for me as I need them to look at a couple of things anyway.
Thanks for letting me know.

WD40! I just gave the connectors a squirt and the mechanism on my passengers door which had the same problem and everything works fine!!
