confusing but I would say yes, think its only the older common rail engines that need priming but no doubt someone on here will say if they know different :?

I have prob drove about 20-30 miles with light on , but dont fancy running out! Talking about fuel consumption, If i take it down to the light coming on , i get about 320-350 max. Its a TDdi by the way, i dont think i drive heavy footed , but reading on here nearly everyone has different fuel consumption even if they are identical engines

That's about what I get. 350 full to light on. I have a TDCi, I don't know about priming after running out of fuel as when mine started to hesitate (during the range test) I stopped right away and put 5 litres in from a can.

I tend to do a maximum of 35-40 miles or so on the fuel light. Prefer to fill up rather than have the risk of running out.

I have just managed 492 miles before I had to fill up. Gauge was just touching the top of the red bar so could have managed more. 46.88 litres (£52 @ 110.9p/ltr) I put in so just short of 48mpg. Not bad is it :D

Drove nice and smoothly for the last week and a half, changing gear early so the revs stayed very low all the time. Not taken me any long to do my trip back and forth work either and I have managed about half a week longer without filling up. Might drive like this more often, save myself about a tank of fuel a month possibly.

I know as said here theres 15 litres left in the tank once the light comes on, i have done 60+ miles manys a time after the fuel light and i reckon she would do 100 no problem but never pushed her to it. i reckon ford left the fuel light coming on early for a reason or else they are stupid, either way the early fuel light effects a lot of peoples decisions on wether the connect is economical to run. my view is if you take the fuel left in the tank, the connect is as economical as most other vans in the same range

Surely theres a definitive answer to this in litres?
It daft to talk about miles as everyones going to get different milage.

So litres left when the light comes on = ?

I'd say that is spot on. I get just on 40 per gall and the first time I yellow lighted, it spluttered at 62 miles. Second time it went 79 with no splutter, but I thought; that'll do. So, 9 litres (2 galls) seems about right.

If I yellow light at less than 50 from home, I don't worry about it now that I have done the two "road tests".

Cheers.

If you run out of diesel. Yes fuel system will require priming as diesel filter will be empty

This is right for my LWB. For the last 25,000 miles, as soon as the warning light appears, I've done a complete fill to the auto cutoff EVERY TIME as soon as I could get to a garage. Always one within a few miles around me. No frigging about trying to get another cupfull down the filler tube.

It's 45 litres to 46 litres EVERY TIME - so 10 Imperial galls. On a 60-litre tank you've got a minimum 14 litres LEFT .... so at my MPG of 48-50 I can get from Stamford Lincs to my daughters house in Northallerton, N. Yorks. The only reason I don't try this is that diesel prices up there are much higher so it's cheaper to fill up down here.
