Another thing to note is the people with alloys (like me) will get less mpg as there is more contact with the road causing more resistance, saying that I can still get 40-45 mpg.

lightning wrote:£55 is about 47 litres, so about 10 gallons. So you are getting 32mpg. I only get 33-35mpg from my T200 110 TDCi and it's never carrying much weight.

and theres me thinking i was gettting about 24!! i was like eek!!

I went from a Transit 100ps to my Connect and thought there would be a big difference in mpg but there isn't :(

also depends on what grade of fuel you use, going for a good make of fuel can improve performance and economy

A van is for work a car is for leisure mostly, i would understand if everybody was complaining about your cars mpg because in most peoples cases it does,nt earn you any money, but i don,t see the sense in complaining about the van. After all if you can,t make a connect pay for itself regardless of how many mpg it does maybe we should park them up. Try driving a lwb 2.4 around for a week and you would,nt be complaining about the connect

Try driving a swb Transit it will get more mpg than quite a few Connects on here!
Some people use their van for leisure like I do, its all about mpg with the price of fuel on the rise wether for work or leisure.
Mate of mine just text me from Lanzegrotte and diesel is 72p litre!

Had my Transit 260 100 for 7 years with not one fault, did 125000 miles and always did 35 plus mpg. I loved that van but it was rusting so it had to go. At least I dont feel like im a pikey now

I have ford transit connect 2006. And it's doing only 210miles for £40 of diesel. So I counted and got 18-20mpg town and 20-22mpg mtw. Mechanics cannot find the problems! Fed up with this paying too much money for wee van. I'm not driving a Ford mustang. Ffs

A good economy meter/trip meter/ obd tool can make a big diference for optimizing your driving style for fuel economy and still keep up with the other traffic.

In my connect I use this device: http://fordtransit.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=54&t=154800, in my Smart Roadster I have a V-vhecker A301 installed: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z4iQrDPLC3M. It's give a lot of info (a screen while standing still and a screen while driving, both can set to your preference). The a301 is the best of the two devices.
