power through firewall transit connect where ?

Postby kjdiscos » Fri Jul 23, 2010 1:42 am

ok so i have searched, and spent about 40 mins locating a grommet,

I removed scuttle panel,

and where the pollen filter is behind is a black grommet,

however on the inside with the glovebox dropped there is no sign of the grommet or any cable i pushed through.

people have mentioned seeing the grommet the other side are guys sure ??????, As there is no grommet, as the fusebox etc is a fair way back from thef firewall.

I also can't see how you would drill the firewall into glovebox area ?, did you remove sound deadening to do this ? or the fusebox ????

I have power running through there for my sub and for my alarm wiring. From what I recall it's not a very big grommet to spot from inside the cab behind the glovebox - around 1.5" round?

It's not that hard to pull out and refit - I'd probably suggest pulling it out from the engine bay side so you can see where there's a hole from the glovebox side!

is this the grommet towards read of pollen filter, having removed the sucttle panel,

i have only dropped the drop leaf by pushing the 2 tabs in revealing the fusebox etc, The problem being that grommet is quite alot further back in the engine bay,

this is an 03 plate what reg is yours ?

I will get photos later as it is beggining to nark me off, as i can't wire in my inverter or amp

I'm having the same problem too. Would it be really wrong to just punch a new hole through? Obviously I don't want to compromise safety in any way but a hole's a hole, right?

Mine's an 04 plate. I haven't had the scuttle etc off for a while, but from what I recall the pollen filter is in the middle isn't it?

The grommet is quite a long way over to the right if looking at the van from the front. You only need to remove the right side of the scuttle to get to it.

ok can confirm the sub is runnign :D boom boom ha

Ok so heres how i did it in a bit of detail,

1, Remove passanger side scuttle pan

2, you will see the pollen filter

3, look behind pollen filter and you shall see a black grommet/bung

4, remove this

5. go inside van and drop the golvebox

6, once its dropped you see some sound deadening material, above the fan and fuse box almost curved.

7, cut abit away of the sound deadening and then drill through

8, use cable rods and if you are spot on the cable will come through the hole you took grommet out, will take a few goes,

9, tape your power cable to cable rods pull through

10, fill hole with silicon or put grommet back in, i forget so filled both ends with silicon,

then take a beer and drink in releif !
and while your at it or before you do, fit a new pollen filter :)
