Pit Stop Tent

Postby MinorMatt » Tue Jun 11, 2013 1:51 pm

I've been picked on guys and forced to organise the pitstop tent this year...

As i'm sure some of you know I'm pretty good with the mk3/4/5s, and I know enough general mechanicing to help with the earlier stuff too... but the mk6/7/Custom (are outside my knowledge!)

The idea is that there will be a couple of "designated" times when I (and/or) a deputy will be in the tent to help people out, but will be approachable at any time during the day.

I'm looking for someone, who knows mk6 & 7s well, who would be willing to donate their time for a couple of hours during the weekend... That time may be helping someone out, or it may be sitting around chatting in the tent waiting for someone to show!

Some demonstrations could also be arranged - but I need to know in advance what people would like to see so I can get it sorted.

The fwd selector turret, strip and bearing is a favourite topic In the mk6/7, would make a good demo :D or front wheel bearing/disc removal, maybe just a walk through on that if someone's got a spare hub kicking about.
Egr blanking and manifold cleaning too are popular topic too.

I'm still hoping to get down this year, and would be happy to drink tea and talk transit for an hour or so

I have never done a gear selector or the discs and pads on a mk6/7... so well volunteered!

I'm happy to volunteer my van for the selector demo repair

Maybe APH or mobilevanman (If they're coming) would be willing to do a demo with this

what is it they say 1 pressed man is worth 10 volenteers

I'm willing to help out here - i can bring my drop arm pullers so if anyone wants mk1/2/3 drop arms removing (then refitting so they come off easly) i can do that!

i might also be able to bring my drilling jig so i can redrill landrover wellers :D

also i can advise on engine conversions - so if anyones fancying fitting a V8 then we can bring your van in and have a chat through it (no actual work done on site tho  )

Will we be demonstrating how to pull out a crease on say a 3/4 panel ? Im sure budding panelbeaters would love to see that done.
I will try to get mine tax and tested to demonstrate on :D
