Hi Paul, as you know I wont be able to make it this year just been really mad with work over the past few months. Need to grab all the pennies I can so I can finish the van of.

I know Guy is running the show this year but im just giving my opinion,

This is supposed to be a SPL sound off competition and not a disco.

The music played is supposed to test the speakers at all frequencies to see what sort of DB they can reach without distorting or popping.
The track I posted from YouTube is not a disco track but it does test your speakers to their level.
This is just my opinion Guy is running the show so he can decide what he wants to do. But if you go to proper sound off competitions this is how it is done.
It is meant to be a Sound Pressure Level competition not a loudness competition as you can achieve serious loudness with 5 set of tweeters but 0% Sound Pressure Level. I hope this makes sense and helps out.

Just thought I'd look up the rules used in official competition, regarding the music chosen -

Once the test begins, the competitor has thirty seconds to try and achieve the highest score

possible. The music, tone or sweep may be restarted and/or the tracks can be changed as often

as possible within the thirty-second time window.

Reason I looked this up is because I was sure people used to use
their own music at competitions when I used to go watch.
It makes sense because everyone tunes their system for different types of music.
(also it makes it a little more interesting for spectators, not having to hear one track over and over).

Hi mate, not all ''now day'' competitions are run this way to be honest I have only seen 1 which was done like this.

But what you said is a good idea as this is more for fun then anything else.

I'm well out of touch with the current sound-off scene, it was over 10 years ago I used to attend.
I don't mind either way, and in no way mean to disrupt or change proceedings.
It'll be fun no matter what. People love it
