Advice on arrival please.....1st event for me...

Postby Leeday » Tue Aug 10, 2010 9:04 pm

Can anyone tell me some of the following, so I know what to expect on arrival :D
What time is best to arrive Friday morning?
Obviously pitch tent in the correct field, but where do I put my Transit?
What time do we depart Sunday?
Any other advice would be greatfully accepted....
Thanks.

Any time you like to arrive, friday is a steady trickle all day but gets busier after lunch.

They will give you a site map when you arrive, most will be parking up in 'shelduck', just pitch your tent at the side of your van. There will already be some transits there, i for one am going down thursday, others will be there even before that!

You can obviously leave any time you want sunday but it should all be packed up between 3 and 4pm I would have thought.

Hey Rover,
Thanks for that... I thought we had to park van in a field and then the tent would be miles away :(
Will be arriving early Friday morning before the lunch rush.
You will probably spot me a mile off, as for the past 8 years have had a caravan, which we sold last year, so will be using a tent..........have never put one up, haven`t had time to try and put this one up..... so if you see someone with a load of poles assembled in a funny shape, a piece of canvas inside out blowing across the field.... that will be me chasing it and cursing :D :D :D

Lets hope for a repeat in history of 1999:

September 1st to 11th 1999 - the first part of September 1999 was one of the most notable September heatwaves of the 20th century. On ten of these eleven days temperatures reached or exceeded 25C somewhere around the UK and on seven of these eleven days temperatures of at least 27C were recorded at one or more sites. The two hottest days were the 5th, when Mildenhall reached 30C, and the 11th when Gravesend registered a high of 30.4C, the warmest September day since 1973 and the highest so late in the year since 1947.

Here`s hoping :D

By the way, this is not somethingh I happen to know, found it on a website: http://www.dandantheweatherman.com/Bere ... ptwarm.htm

Hi Lee
Most people park up around the edge of the field leaving the middle clearish for Sunday's circle/antics.
The only reason you MAY want to park in another field is our one, Shellduck, has no electrical hook ups, which some of the caravanners like to have.
Good luck with the tent :) seeya there.
Have fun
