When i was on the mark1/2 forum (some of the nice people on here are on both) someone sent me a really helpful link to the motomobil technical guide that had a piccy and description of all the parts...am looking for it but when the site was lost last year i think i lost the post...maybe someone will share it again
had another satuarday on ramp, some more welding and fabrication done by dad and i've got the hang of mig welding without blowing holes in metal work. i'll get some pictures up loaded when me mobiles charged up. big thank you to phillip and mark at p lund ltd aireburn garage who specilise in audi, vw and skodas for letting us put a old transit on ramp and letting us use tools we dont own or had forgotten and young jack for making cups of tea. managed to get out of a visit to the out laws tomorrow so hoping to paint new metal.

pictures of work done so far. work is steady only get around 6hrs at a time to unload, set up, work then load back up and tidy up but still 10 times faster than trying to work in shed. drivers side is the worst and most that is done now just leaves patch on drivers side under the step. patch in same place on passenger side. drivers headlight bowl to chop out and renew. passenger side new bowl in screwed in temp but needs welding.
all rust cut out.
cut out the bodged floor plate.
all welded up with a skim of filler over welds
filler flatted and a quick coat of red oxide.

a quick update. more welding done after finding bodge plates on inner wing and chassis leg. been looking for some rear leaf springs and started a post trying to find out if mk3 springs would fit. i think this is the link viewtopic.php?f=3&t=128713
some older cars have visited the garage on saturday morning in the form of a triumph TR4, a Consul GT running a Essex V6 and a Volvo FL6 tractor unit. this has spured garage owner phillip to get his 2 TR6's and maybe get his 2.8i capri running.

Yeah, springs, right, yeah...hmmm. From what i have seen and tried it might be easier to change the axle...look forward to your replies on that conundrum
i was unusally lucky on that one. manage to find some new old stock 5 leaf springs. i think you can fit mk3 springs but never found out and never found any swb springs new or old, seems to be loads for lwb.

Bit of a fail with new spring s there only 12 cwt which is just over ton, I think . Ideal for a panel van but not the heavy motorhome body so will be going back on eBay. Welding all but done, new battery tray made and fitted, new headlight bowls fitted, spring helpers on back have been reshaped. Just finished cleaning it and loading up for bank holiday weekend away at chipping steam rally near clitheroe in lancs. Would have gone tonite but bollie the black Labrador has had go to the vets so is now waring a funky print bandage( vet does it on purpose I think )

have not had chance to sit down and do a update with working on camper, using camper and having to go to work (that keeps getting in the way) im going to write a brief description of whats been happening and then include the photos, seem to remember a good picture is a 100words or something.
my last post i was setting off the next day. had some overheating problems which i thought were all cure after flushing and a new summer stat last year but temp gauge went right up then trying to get some heat out via heater fan packed up return trip 2 days later everything fine but cold air coming out of heater
weekend after i pulled heater box out and it was full of all sorts of crap and the seals and insulation had gone flaky. re insulated, cleaned and motor cleaned and greased put it back together and now blows hot and temp gauge has settled back just below 1/2.
we were going to change rear springs but the new ones were not right so the helpers have been reshaped to help a little more. the front exhaust pipes have had new pieces welded onto the ends that join to the middle section and new hangers as someone had been using allround band. the petrol tank has been remove cleaned inside and out and painted. the bodge plates have been cut out off inner wing and a new battery tray has been made.
i've had time to update the electrics in the camper part too. with a zig charger/ distribution board. a 3pin 230v socket on the out side and consumer unit with trips and a newer 3 way fridge. the original works really well on gas and 12v but it looks grubby all the time and tripped electrics on 230v. oh and some 2nd cushions from a breakers really make a difference to looks. i've found a bracket to use to store the table pole so its not rolling round any more.
