My camper now finished phew.

The day Fanny the Trannie was born! I bought the best base van I could afford an 06 90 T350, 112000 miles on the clock with full history, 2 grand plus an 02 plate mondeo 2.5 zetec s in showroom condition and 58000 miles. Not a bargain but a decent deal I thought. All the fixtures, fittings and furniture board came from Magnum Motorhomes in Grimsby, these guys are a font of knowledge and are only too happy to help with any problems.....but they did relieve me of a small fortune but well worth it for the quality of the gear.

After various layouts I finally decided on a layout, and work started on the bed.

I cut all the plywood before being faced with light oak facing ply.

A dark day, after driving Fanny to my Dads to let him have a look She developed an engine knock and loss of power, after a trip to the garage a fuel pump was ordered and fitted at a cost of £1400. I was gutted a massive chunk of my budget gone and no progress to show for it. At this point I could've just put the van on ebay and forget all about it.
Image
I decided to carry on as I now had a van with a fuel pump good for another 100,000 miles! I bonded the decorative board onto the 3mm ply.

Top lockers made and fitted, As a gas fitter I surprised myself with my ability to make these fittings, trial and error was the way forward!

Our first trip away in Yorkshire.
This project was full of highs and lows. I would encourage anyone to have a go at converting a van, I enjoyed it so much I would never have been able to afford to buy a finished example of the quality of the van I've made. My other half was legendary giving a constant supply of tea, sarnies and roll ups!!

I'm now wondering if to sell Fanny and convert another van this time a MK7. Providing the good lady and put up with me doing another. At the moment with the engine repair it stands me at around 9 grand. I used to look at the prices of new motorhomes with no idea where the prices came from.......now I do.

Log book returned from DVLA today changed to motorcaravan, stickers fitted to outside.....Happy Days

Hi,

Your Interior looks GREAT.

I'm planning on using some decorative board, but I have no idea how to cut it to size/Shape.

It's so thin, I wondered if a Stanley Knife would do it.

Regards,

Paul

Looks great.

Does the bed slide under one another? Could you show some more pics of it ?

It looks like you've done quite a job there.

Is that a bog & shower room? How did that go?
