lol, good pitch!

Thanks, but i'm hoping to build a 3/4 double bed with seat belts. Just need to know things like what gage of box section to use, number and location of anchor points and so on.... oh yeah, also going to add some isofix anchor points for a child seat, has anyone else done this?

Cheers

I also thought of the idea of a rock n roll bed till I looked at the ludicrous prices folk are asking. (better off buying a king sized bed from Harrods than a bit of over priced bent metal off ebay. No wonder you're asking how to make one!
I've changed my whole design to avoid the rock n roll bed, but need to ensure that I can construct a lightweight wooden bench seat system that will adheer to the DVLA 6' long listing.

The brackets are the same as in a lot of sofa-beds

Safety of Rock & Roll Beds

Postby northernlad » Thu Sep 15, 2011 9:54 pm

As a family man I wouldn't let my kids travel on any of the rock & roll beds made in the UK -( not seen one that works properly with three point belts yet!!) - please note NONE of them are crash tested, the only crash tested / pull tested rock & roll beds are from FASP, RIB and I believe a company called SCOTTS Seats have a version too which is also made by SCOPEMA (same company as RIB), quote me if I am wrong but I believe in 2012 a law comes out where rock & roll beds must be pull / crash tested. Home made rock & roll beds or those fabricated in workshops throughout the UK really are not suitable for travelling passengers on. Nothing beats a TUV or OEM Equipment.

This is interesting. This is part of the reason why I wanted to make my own as i wasn't confident with anything i had found for sale. I wasn't sure what the position was legally, or indeed if i fitted rear seat belts, if there are any guidlines / standards available i can use to ensure what i make is of the highest standard. Failing that, i was planning on over engineering to be on the safe side...
