The cupboards and doors and all glossy red stuff is from ikea (faktum for the cupboard bases and akbstrakt red doors, the stainless steel doors also came from ikea) - we got base units and cut them down to size (made them less deep)

Yeah...they are slightly overpriced!

Just picked up a brand new fasp swivel base from ebay for £50 so I guess that balances it out...sort of!

needed one or two minor alterations (a couple of new holes mainly!) and was fairly easy to fit. We are fairly chuffed with it!

You can see the top of the bed in this picture which we just had powder coated in metallic dark grey as the old colour was a bit lame

The bed is currently being bolted in by my other half as I type!

Just the table and the gas left to fit and it's off to the DVLA for reclassifcation - way heeyyy!!!

Hi Mack,

We've kept the hot water system VERY simple as in - the hot water system is boil some water on the hob! For the cold water we've got a large water container in the cupboard underneath which we will just replenish every other day or so. We also figured the less complex it was the less likely it is to break!

For heat...well, in our old VW we used to put the hobs on for half an hour when it got cold (probably not advised but it worked very well!). We looked into getting a diesel heater but they are soooo expensive so we are probably going to get one of the little portable heaters, something like this if we need it: http://www.roofrackshop.co.uk/Camping-a ... comparison

It's a Medium height roof, I'm 5 foot 6 and can almost stand so I'd say we've got about 5 foot 4 floor to ceiling. My boyfriend is over 6 foot and wouldn't be able to stand in a high roof transit once it was all insulated anyway. Parts of the van also have 2 layers of Celotex (we went a bit mad - and also squirted that expansion foam into all the doors and bit's we couldn't reach by drilling holes) so the plan is not to let heat escape!

We don't have 240v either as we didn't feel too comfortable with wiring all that up and we really don't think we'll need it (we NEVER used it in the VW). The plan is to have 2 leisure batteries and later we are going to put some solar panels on the roof.

There is running cold water via the water container in the cupboard which has a submersible pump - sorry if that was not clear

Just a few updated pics for you of our van.

After various deliberations about what kind of table to have, we went with this:




We got this from a local furniture supplier and the top was about 25 pounds (considerably less than anywhere else we looked, especially the camper conversion places). While it might not be do everyone's taste, we quite like the steel look and feel it matches well with the rear cupboards.

The bed now has a kick board which is where we have attached the table leg to:



And the table is stored behind the drivers seat (attached to the side of the cupboard)

We're sending off the pics and docs to get the van reclassified as a "motor caravan" this week - Hooray! We still need to do some minor bits like fit some speakers, clean the van inside and out properly and are keeping our eyes out for some side bars (sssoooooo expensive!)
