Waxoyl does not set, it stays runny. That could cause problems if it gets hot and soaks up into your floor boards. I'd use Dinitrol.

then it will just rot through from underneath
bodge any old sh*t paint on it to keep it dry red oxide if you want to be posh
it won't be that bit that kills your van anyway

Depends how you do it. Some use sheet insulation (I have) in which case you are right it won't soak through. Others use battens and Celotex, in which case you could have problems.

Allcock is right though, splather on some oxide primer. That should sort it.
