Advice needed

Postby bezzabsa » Wed Apr 26, 2017 2:25 pm

Hiya Guys, n Guyesses
Right - got myself a 2006 Relay (sorry but it was cheap) MWB hi roof.. currently a van, but looking to turn into a camper..

SOOOOOOO

Roughly what can i expect to pay for the insulation and plywood? (roughly same size as Transit..)

Also is there a 'generic' camper cupboard maker, or am i better off trawling Eblag for ex caravan stuff, or even plan C make my own??

is there a 'HOW TO' regarding what actually needs to be done to convince DVLA to change Van into Motor caravan..

Cheers all

Hi there and welcome. :D

Insulation: Depends on what sort of insulation you use, and how thoroughly you plan to insulate. You could get away with maybe £100, up to £300 or so.

Plywood : Again, depends on what grade and thickness you use, and if you use it for furniture or not. You are going to need to allow a couple hundred quid in your budget at least.

No, there is not really anyone who makes generic cupboards as such because it depends on what you want. Have a good look on ebay though as there are many companies that make units for campers - though most are for VW campers. Some do make units for other vehicles that could be a good fit, so never be afraid to phone and ask. Some are frighteningly expensive though! I'm making my own to save money and get exactly what I want but it's taking me ages!

DVLA requirements are here:
