Not sure on split charger but my old ex work van just used a 60 or 100a relay with coil powered from alternator "battery warning" wire so it just connected van battery to leisure battery ONLY when engine running so no fear of draining front battery if ignition in but engine not running. Uber reliable if spend 10quid or so on a decent heavy duty relay

I found this on my van today it is located and connected to my battery, i have a feeling this could actually be a charge relay

Yes, that's a split charge relay. Not a high current one, but you can make it switch a much bigger relay for charging purposes, and that way the leisure battery will receive a higher voltage charge too.

The white thing is an Anderson connector, used when high currents are involved such as electric winches, welding equipment, and recharging electric pallet trucks and forklifts. Handy for big invertors if you need to disconnect them for storage.

Thatll be fine as long as the leisure battery doesnt try to pull more than 30amp...
Best watch that!
Big ass relay durite fuse within 18inch of each battery on 100amp cable. Job done...

Yes sorta...perm earth to coil and coil 12v (switch relay on off feed) goes to alternator wire that makes battery warning light go out when alternator working
