Gas cylinder contents

What is the best way of measuring (preferably without removing the cylinder from its locker)?

Don't they do a sort of cradle that bottle sits on with a weight gauge on,so that say your 10 kg bottles 9kg lighter than when you put it in you'll need another soon(if your still using it!)

There is this trick, although it involves either taking the cylinder out, or getting your gas locker wet ...

That is what I always assumed and many regulators have such a gauge. It is useful as it shows you when the bottle is empty but that is its only use and you know that anyway as the cooker won't light!

As the liquid gas boils off, it is always at approximately a constant pressure.

That is the way I am thinking although it would be nice not have to open the locker and maybe remove the bottle to find the result.

I wonder if there is such a thing as a strain gauge linked to a remote indicator (I love gadgets!).

I only use gas for cooking so the 3.5 kg bottle lasts a long time when I go to Ireland fishing and not sure about getting calor gas over there and not wanting to swop the bottle till it's empty I take a single burner camping stove it takes up little room and a gas can lasts long enough to tide me over till I can get a new bottle
