Seats

Postby emkay » Sun Jul 09, 2017 8:52 pm

My pair of seats have seen better days so I am looking to upgrade ,can anybody recommend some very comfy leather seats that won't take to much fabrication to fit.
The passenger side has a captains seat swivel.
Thanks

Old Saab leather seats have a really good reputation amongst campervanners. They are supposed to be extremely comfortable, and with flat bottom rails, need minimal modification to fit.

As John says, Jag X Type are supposed to be good ones.

There are loads of others, Toyota RX8, Celica, and MR2 and Audi TT seats are supposed to be an easy fit as they are low seat height, with flat rails and usually manual adjustment.

Just about any seat can be made to fit - depending on how much modification and fabrication you are prepared to do, but watch the rail to seat height as you could end up with your knees jammed under the steering wheel. Adjustment motors and seat heaters need power supplies sorting out, usually add (sometimes considerable) height to the seat, and can weigh a ton.

Transit Customs seats fit into a Mk7 !

Postby martynx » Thu Jul 27, 2017 8:52 pm

Not completely relevant to the original poster but thought i'd add this to the thread rather than make a fresh one - Transit Custom seats have the same width runners as MK7 seats, just 2 holes to drill at the back of the seat base to fit them.Nice factory style upgrade if you fancy a firmer flatter seat. I didnt see how the Custom double bench seat was fitted but it was in & looks good & has flip up storage under it on the inner side nearest the handbrake :D
