Brake pedal wobble Campervan

Postby DIGGER73 » Sun Oct 22, 2017 9:37 am

Hello everybody, can anyone help?

I picked up my newly professionally converted SWB Custom Campervan at the beginning of October. I've noticed the brake pedal and steering wheel wobble under speed braking (30mph+). The ABS warning lamp does not light but this seems a new issue to rectify. I've got the Campervan booked in with Ford for a service/MOT mid November but any ideas on what this could be would be great. Tyre pressures are as the stated PSI on the drivers door frame sticker.
Thanks.

Told by Kwik Fit yesterday that all my discs are worn. On viewing I could see myself that all the discs were corroded and lipped on the edges. I'm assuming that means new pads and discs all round. Got the van in for its 60k service so i'll see what Ford say about it. Only going to Ford as there's a TSB on FordEtis for the alarm.

Van was an ex-carpet fitters van so I can imagine they did the bare minimum to keep it on the road.

I may be wrong here but... I run a W reg Mk 5 smiley bus with ABS. It's my belief the ABS light should glow for a few seconds when the ignition is turned on, as a self test. No glow is an MOT fail, as is a missing bulb. Check you have ABS fitted and working before spending any more money on the brakes and other bits. ABS is......difficult to sort.

As I said, I could be wrong here.... especially if it's not a Mk5!
