Floor thermal insulation.

Postby GBW » Fri Dec 29, 2017 11:12 am

Apart from the original plywood floor, there is none. Although the air temperature is comfortable, feet are COLD!

To install inside would mean a huge amount of dismantling and rebuilding.

Is it possible to coat the underside of the floor with something? I was wondering about spray on foam which will be messy working upwards but, more concerning, is the increased risk of underside rust. Or could the foam improve the rust resistance?

Not sure that's a realistic option. What have you got covering the wood floor - carpet, lino?

I've got insulating foam sheet between the van floor and the plywood floor sheets, them lino on top.

If it's too much trouble to take the floor up, I'd just fit carpet or rugs - simpler and cheaper than coating the underfloor!

The problem with the day solution of underlay is the arrangement for the bed support.

I can get round that but was looking for an easy fix.
