Are you looking for a wind out or a drive away?

The only way your going to do it is with a fiamma style and bolt through the roofline or if u want a driveaway get a high roof with an overslung fixing

Hope this helps
I just sell then i dont know how to fix your intermittent issue

Thanks yes it’s the wind out I am after but the camper conversion company have been on to Fiamma and another make and they say no it will hit the door but to me it looks as though it will bolt through the side of the van above the door I’d like to get a photo of one fitted an know what was used to fit it

I to am having this problem, I reckon the Fiamma f65 roof mount with some custom brackets will be fine, my mk 8 is a l2 h2 so only about 2-3” above side door so can’t have a f45 wall mount...

Mines L4H3 and has about six inches above the door and tapers in not really a lot and looks like it should be a easy job to bolt thro the side of the van like you see them on caravans and chassis bolt campers I can’t believe Fiamma are saying they looked at this and it is not possible the main reason I am updating to a mk8 was been a twin wheel bus I am not going to overload it and to be able to fit a awning.
I did not want to strip out my my mk6 to fit an awning as it would be a lot of work on a 11 year van even body an mechanically it’s spot on and would last a few more years so at the moment I am a bit gutted I shall have to start the conversation and build it so I have easy access to the side and fit one afterwards instead of starting with th awning
Cheers mate

Success! Finally fitted the f45s today, I had to get some fiat roof mount brackets modified but now it just bolts straight into the roof rack mounts

Two heavy duty suction cups, small tarp, set of telescopic poles and lines - total = £40 on Ebay.

Takes two minutes to set up, no drilling through your bodywork, packs away to nothing, and can be fitted to either side :-)

Well, jiminy. I have some of the heavy duty glass moving suction thingers for taking imacs apart. I never through of this alternate use for them. I tip my hat to you sir. If I had a tippable hat. I would tip it.

I can't even find my woolly hat so, well.

suction cups!! amazing.

Those are pretty smart, I like the metal attachment point. Mine are less fancy looking but significantly cheaper.. (smaller as well)
