Night heaters

Postby Honda415 » Fri Feb 09, 2018 3:17 pm

Has anyone had any luck with the cheap chinese night heaters? They look pretty good at a 1/4 of the price of erberspacher. I know you wont get the warranty but they dont appear that complicated with how it works.

No but I'm thinking about going down the route of a small petrol generator like this one. I can then easily run a 1000W mains halogen heater plus keep my leisure battery topped up.

Anyone else use one of these?

Plan on having a petrol geny myself but like mentioned there noisy for night use. There are quieter ones but there very expensive without much output. Im thinking with the chinese ones i could buy 1 and have 2 spare for the cost of an erb one!?

Ive ended up buying one of the chinese ones but havent fitted it. A pretty comprehensive kit, cheap plastic but the internals look decent enough. Theres a whole facebook page on them, lots of people succesfully using them - many damaged on the way over and some have had glow plug problems

Quiet generators are almost like unicorn sh*t....

Mythical... Yes if you spend top dollar on a Honda I series.. It'll be a mildly irritating drone rather than rattling your teeth out loud.

I went solar/VSR and decent battery bank for silent power and eberspacher for heating...
Eberspacher wasn't cheapest BUT as we use the van all year round I wanted reliability AND safety rather than cheap and Chearful till it packs up...
Let alone someone not bothering with fitting a reliable overheat cut out.

The only true silent generator is, one with a bag of sugar in the tank ;-)
