insurance companies

Postby sonja » Tue Apr 10, 2018 9:51 am

Hi all just about to purchase a 2012 swb ex AA transit. We are converting it to a camper so it needs to be taken straight to conversion company before we start using it. We will need to insure it prior to picking it up and wanted to insure with a company who commonly deal with campers as have been told its the cheaper way. Any suggestions of companies please and also are there any legal ways we could get it (40 miles ) to the conversion company without paying for full years insurance as we are not sure how long it'll take to convert. TIA

Don't know about specific camper companies, but you can buy short term insurance for things just like this.
When I wanted to add a couple of friends for a trip down to France my insurance wouldn't allow me to just add them for a week - they wanted me to take out a separate short term policy - valid for 1 day to 1 month

You could transport the van to the conversion people, and get an off road policy for whilst it’s with them....just a thought

Or get local garage with trade plates to take it and you pick them up or try A plan viewtopic.php?f=14&t=112285
