My camper project

Postby Bemo » Thu Apr 30, 2009 5:39 pm

I put pictures of my van on the members gallery before i noticed this section so though i would update here :)

I am not far off being ready to use now. Basically it was a lwb semi minibus, i ripped the seats out and the original flooring and replaced with new ply and carpet, the sides and roof were already carpeted which was handy.
Heres how it was when i bought it:

I fitted a bed/chair arrangemnet from a caravan with lift up storage underneath, ive nearly finished the wardrobe, just need to put the doors on.
I bought some cupboard units and covered them in worktop for the kitchen area, just put the stainless steel bowl which i am using for the sink, the electrics are done a very simple way by buying a hook up lead that has a built in rcd and 3 sockets!

Looks really good, how did you get the shape for the full height cupboard, and what did you make it from, on my last build i had a nightmare cutting wood at wierd angles and shapes and it looked naf, this time around i want to make it look good

cheers

make a cardboard template, its cheap enough to make loads of mistakes till you get it perfect

I made it from beech contiboard from b&q, comes in loads of different sizes and finishes, a mate helped me scribe the wardrobe in, he made a tool out of an off cut of wood to follow the shape of the roof and with the sheet of contiboard pushed up to where it wanted to be he transfered a pencil mark on to the sheet, hard to explain really! :) The cardboard idea noobrider sounds a good idea :)

Definately need to get hold of an awning or canopy before our next outing!

Van performed really well and bed was comfy too, which I wasn`t expecting! :)
