AK's Camper conversion - Ex Network rail

Postby AK » Sat Mar 05, 2011 9:14 pm

Right thought i'd start a little diary/progress report in here.

So I picked up an ex Network Rail LWB 100ps 56 plate van

Came with Ebber, handiwash, Hot water boiler, Microwave etc etc, thats all been ripped out now to leave me with this.

Believe it or not its taken 20 hours to get this far getting the 1/4" false floor up was a nightmare, then having to go round and fill in all the holes for the crew seats which I removed.

The plan is to convert it into a 4 birth camper with a slamm enclosed area on the back for mountain bikes etc, one bed will be over the back on top of the enclosed area, and the other bed will be in the front behind the drivers seat, with a seating arrangement in an L shape, and then the kitchen area etc will be in an L shape towards the back of the van and on the sliding door side.

I'll update as I go along, but its not going to happen over night, I think its going to take even longer than I thought

I sold all of mine on ebay and through this forum - The Microwave went within minutes on ebay for £150 on a Buy it Now.

I found this guy's website very useful - especially for water tank info

Well managed to get a little more done over the weekend and today.

Got the new floor down, got round to insulating the van

Image

Had my first attempt at lining not to bad for a first go, but had to be done so I could put the boarding back upm in the rear, think I'll have to practice more

Image

Then got round to making the frame work for the rear bed/garage area, might look ugly but its so strong and won't be moving any time soon.
Image

Hopefully get some more time tomorrow to finish off the bed/garage, and then onto lining the rest of the van

Final layout is going to be a little different to most, I'm going to have L shape seating which folds out into another bed, behind the front seats, and then in the opposite corner I will have L shape kitchen units.

Well thats the plan anyway.

Got more done on it in the last day or so

Ply cut to size ready to carpet

First bit of lining, needs cuting

Then more

Still another 5 hours or so to spend on the lining, and then its onto the floor

Damn everything takes so damn long to do, also having to fit work in and around doing this
