Ford A get shredded

Postby Ecleo » Wed Mar 07, 2012 10:44 pm

Hello,

I know of a place that have two A series.
The will be shredded next week.

So if I can look for some (not all to big) parts, let me know.
Maybe I can save those parts.

I'm not sure yet why.

I asked for a few items (also the front lights) but they were broke or gone.
Because of a trip (one way) of about 3,5-4 hours I will take my chance.

It's not something that will come up any soon in the future again.
So I'm going end next week.

Hi There,

I have an A-Series I'm trying to restore and would appreciate if you could pass on the contact details where the two vehicles are going to be shredded. I'm basically interested in everything.

It's my first project of for an A-Series so if anybody else knows where I can find any parts (windscreen in particular) or if you have any details pls let me know it would be greatly appreciated.

If you think having a chat would help pls call 04046424754.

Cheers

correct, as is the door glass (and the doors) dash (Mk1 or Mk2 depending on the age of the A series). Most things in front of the doors are different.

Hi Karl / Fred,

I forgot to mention that the A-series is a 1976 A0410, that's what I've been able to work out.

Do you think the Mk1 or 2 windscreen will fit this model?

I've been speaking with about 4 windscreen suppliers and none of them could tell me really.anything.

Thanks for your help.

Cheers

Hello,

The A-series are in Northern Germany and I'am going to look next week and take some pictures.
May bey the will prospone the shredding for a while

Your A'series looks like a Dormobile version, but Ford had 4-5 coach builders to built them.

It is also not a standard Ford A front window.
Try to contact coach builders of companies how repair building machines, maybe they can help.

Look for more info at:

A series Folder site

Will be more info in the future.

Thanks for the information. Only trouble is that I'm in Australia.

Regarding the windscreen do you still think the Mk1 / 2 windscreen will fit my model? A0410

Yes you are it's a Dormobile camper, I'm trying to restore the old girl.

You have one great site, thanks for that, I have found it really hard to find any information on her.

I have some more folder material, I will put on my site in the Future.
There is some more info about your type of Vehicle on them.

There were also Ford Transit Dormobiles built, with higher type of a frontscreen.
If they are the same, I cant tell you.
Try to find a factory that makes frontscreens. I know one here, so over there must be one too.

In the mean time here is some reading stuff for the Splitrims if you got them.
He knows, lives in Australia too ;-)

Hi Elco,

Thank you for the info it is much appreciated, I need all the help I can get. Looking at it I think the windscreen off the Mk1/2 should fit. My model looks pretty standard front on so hopefully it should fit.

Karl also mentioned that he too has an A series and that the Mk1/2 should fit. So fingers crossed.

Hi Karl,

Thank you for the vote of confidence about the Mk1/2 windscreen fitting.

I'll order one in and have it fitted.

Did you find many other parts off the Mk1/2 or in fact any other vehicle compatible with the A Series?

My model has the Essex V6 in it from what I can work out.

Cheers

The Essex is the Ford 3.0V6, I think with an attached outside waterpomp on the left.
It is not the reliable one of the blok.

The Germans had their own Kölner, 2,8 version, very nice machine (also the 2.0 and 2.3 version).

You can find the Essex in Capri's and older Granada's.
Look at those forums for info.

If you ever need to swap it, you can also look for Sierra's en Scorpio's.
The Scorpio's have the modern 2,9V6.

But in an A series almost everything will fit, maybe make it in to a 4WD ;-)

The Mercedes 508/609 have similar built.

I have bought a power steering from a Mercedes W123 that I'am going to use.
