Well i ended up buying the van yesterday got a good price on my vito in p/x the transit is in great nick even with the high miles seems to pull strong through the gears if a little high geared it's got a 70 mph limiter fitted [which i need advice how to remove]so haynes manual ordered and fingers crossed it ends up reliable.

Hi Rob,

The cheapest option is Forscan (which is free) and a modified elm327 adapter (make sure it has a siliconlabs or FTDI chip). This will allow you to remove the limiter as well as access live data and do most service procedures (calibrations, learns, etc). The adapter shouldn't cost you more than £15

Congrats on the new van and best of lucks!
