Engine malfunction

Hi my name is k I have a transit torneo and when I rebut up then let the accelerator go the red engine malfunction light comes on and when I am driving I accelerate to about 2.5 rpm and it pulls back any one have any ideas what this may be soon as I switch of and on again red light has gone
